Are these original compositions, or copies of other fragrances?
Original. Every fragrance in the house is our own composition, blended for us and made in the UK.
We do not make dupes, clones or 'inspired by' versions of designer scents. Nothing here is built to smell like something you already own.
How long does it last on skin?
Rayie Musk fragrances are made to last from morning to midnight.
Longevity varies more than most brands admit. Warm or oilier skin holds fragrance longer; dry or cool skin holds it less. Applying to pulse points and to skin rather than clothing makes a noticeable difference.
What makes this different from a department store fragrance?
Scale, mostly. These are blended in batches rather than produced by the hundred thousand, and the compositions are ours rather than a house style built by committee.
The practical difference is that you are unlikely to walk into a room and meet three other people wearing it.
How does it change after I put it on?
The opening is the brightest part and it is not the fragrance. Give it twenty minutes.
What settles afterwards is the heart and the base, this is what you and everyone around you will actually be living with for the rest of the day. Judge it then, not at the first spray.
Where should I apply it?
Pulse points: wrists, the base of the throat, behind the ears. Skin holds and develops a fragrance in a way fabric does not.
Two or three sprays is enough. Do not rub your wrists together as it flattens the opening and breaks the scent.
Are they for men or women?
Neither, deliberately. All three are unisex.
They are built around materials that have moved through the ports of the Somali coast for two thousand years - resin, wood, amber, salt air and spice. None of that has a gender.
